The Voluntown Peace Trust is working to support the strengthening of local agriculture through the initiation of the Voluntown Garden Cooperative's Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) project. With the leadership of local Voluntown resident Mary Hill, we are starting a 10 member CSA. We hope to grow in the coming years and to work with other local organic farmers to meet the needs of our local community for healthy, delicious organic vegetables.

Community Supported Agriculture is a growing movement that is recovering the lost relationship between the farmer and the consumer. These "gardening by subscription" projects allow local families to buy, in advance, a share of the harvest from a local farm. In this way, communities are strengthened as relationships are built between farmer and consumer and we reduce our dependence on oil.
